1st post from my mobile

I have just downloaded the mobile app so I am giving it a go.

I am writing this from the comfort of my lovely big bed having just written down my plan for the week ahead. It's my birthday week and so my schedule is quite full. I am not complaining at all as it is full of things I can't wait to do but I will be tired by the end of it.

The photo is of the very beautiful Salisbury cathedral. The spire is the tallest in Britain I believe. I am making it my mission to learn as much about my home town as I can and document what I find.

Knitting project - Jumper

This is my finished jumper, made out of Aran yarn. It's the first item of clothing I have knitted and it turned out really well. It fits and everything!

My flat

I've been following Fly Lady's tip on how to keep up with housework and de-clutter space for a few weeks now. Fly Lady is an American based website where 'Fly Babies' can learn to control theie homes. While I don't consider my self a Fly Baby or take too much notice of the extremely Americanised terms, I have to say that I am very impressed with how much I have done with such little time.

Each week you focus on a different zone so as well as completing the usual house keeping tasks (vacuuming, dusting, laundry, etc) you spend a few minutes each day de-cluttering and sorting a speific area of the house. So far I have sorted my hallway and kitchen and have managed to keep both rooms tidy.

I love having a clean and tidy home but I have to admit I haven't always wanted to do the work needed to keep it up. I am sure I'm not the only one either!

Easter cakes

Here are my lovely chocoloate Easter cupcakes I made last weekend. It is the first time I have made choccy cakes and they were a great success, made with the all in one method which has proved so successful in my previous cake endeavours!

The cakes were lovely and the ganache was perfect. This was a sucessful attempt! Yay! My niece said they were amazing cakes! Enough said I think.

Royal Wedding Day

It has been a few months since my last post. So much for my New Years Resolution but no matter.

The Royal Wedding has now finished and I am so proud to be British today. People may moan and complain that the wedding has cost many millions of pounds but, lets face it, there hasn't been a celebration quite like it in my life time. Plus, all that money goes back into the country anyway so what's all the complaining about. It was fabulous to see all those people enjoying the day and being so patriotic. Plus the couple themselves looked amazing and I wish them a long and happy life together.

Finished!

I have finally finished my cushion! It has certainly taken me long enough. Around 2 years I think!

It's made from cashere-merino blend aran yarn (Debbie Bliss make) so it wasn't cheap...about £5 a ball but it's such lovely yarn and it's so soft. I have a baby jumper pattern to knit for my niece so I will probably get some more of this wool for that. I only need 3 balls of it so not too much money to spend! My next project is a jumper for myself out of Aran yarn. The pattern calls for the same as I used for the cushion but as I need 13 balls I opted for a slightly cheaper version without the cashmere. I might consider making some more cushions out of the same wool as pressies for people. My aim is to practice my shaping as I haven't tried making clothes before.
